Mum Crush Wednesday: Chrissy Teigen

Christine Diane Teigen is best known for being a gorgeous down-to-earth model and host who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Whether it is on her social media channels or in interviews with magazines and on television, she tells it like it is. This makes her an inspiring mama and great role model, especially for her daughter Luna.

Chrissy got her first big breakthrough in the competitive modelling industry when she was featured in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 2010, where she was also named Rookie of the Year. She continued to appear regularly in the special annual editions and once again graced the cover for the 50th anniversary issue with Lily Aldridge and Nina Agdal.

She then took a hiatus from appearing on Sports Illustrated, returning only in 2017, just months after giving birth while still adjusting to her post-baby body.

The veteran model went on a rant about how tiny her bikini bottoms were, all in jest, of course, and initially only wanted to shoot one piece swimsuits, but she got back into her element in the end and we have to say, she looks great!

Other than the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Chrissy has also graced the covers of publications such as Elle, Vogue, Cosmopolitan and more.

Just this year, she was the cover girl of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore.

We love how she never fails to give us exclusive behind the scenes footage of what she gets up to at her shoots, as well as her wicked sense of humour like when she pretended that she was appearing in Marie Claire in a terry cloth robe and shortly after released the actual official photos.

I will never stop being terrycloth towely Teigen @marieclairemag

She does more than just modelling. This talented mummy co-hosted Lip Sync Battle with LL Cool J on Spike.

Given her cheeky personality, it shouldn’t be a surprise that she gets up to lots of mischief when on the set, such as when she and hubby John re-enacted the infamous upside-down Spiderman kiss with a twist – she played Spiderman while he was Mary-Jane Watson.

Off the cameras, she has ventured into makeup, working together with her longtime makeup artist, Mary Philips, to release a palette with Becca Cosmetics.

Put this hot mama in the kitchen and she’ll whip up something fantastic for you to it. It’s no secret that Chrissy loves cooking. She has made everything from pho and tomato soup to breakfast platters with creamy scrambled eggs.

The beginning of creamy tomato soup!

low and slow creamy eggs, garlic roasted bacon and burst tomatoes from this morning! To feed 3, I cracked 10 eggs into a big bowl, whisked with a hearty splash of heavy cream and a good amount of salt and pepper. On low, I heated a tablespoon or so of olive oil with a tablespoon of butter in a non stick skillet and poured in the egg mix. Don't stop gently stirring and scraping (edges and all) for more than a few seconds! The first 10 minutes won't look like much but then boom…you'll notice it getting thicker and thicker. As it gets thick enough to stop flowing all over the entire pan, make sure to spread out the eggs throughout the pan and keep stirring. Like cheesy eggs with no cheese! Then out of nowhere, the moisture is mostly gone and you're done! More than worth the wait! (The bacon is roasted at 400 for 10-15 mins with chopped garlic cloves on a baking sheet and tomatoes tossed in olive oil and shaken in a hot pan for a bit) ❤️❤️❤️

Thus no one was shocked when she published a cookbook full of recipes she loves.

!!!!! I am finally holding this thing in my hands and I can't believe it is officially real! I actually feel like it's a movie prop or something. I'm so excited for you guys to see – I really really hope you love everything in it and find recipes to make for those you love for years to come…pot pie soup with crust crackers, Italian sausage meatloaf, cholula honey butter fried chicken, buttery scallops with the perfect sear, spicy black bean veggie chili, my herb and garlic goat cheese stuffed chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto ohhhhhhh there is so much I am excited about, this baby has so much love in it! I am so used to the Twitter and Instagram world that I can't even comprehend people actually coming out to my signings or events and seeing your actual human bodies and faces in person but know I will have so many around the release in many different cities and I will be so sick wondering if anyone will show up ahhhhhhh but I can't wait to see you all!! You can pre-order now but #CravingsCookbook is officially out February 23rd! Sorry so long, I have the energy of 1 3/4 people! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Another thing Chrissy is known for is being #couplegoals and #relationshipgoals with her husband, John Legend. The pair were married on the banks of Lake Como in Italy in 2013 and she was the inspiration behind his hit song, All Of Me, which was released in the same year.

Went back to the "all of me" house with Luna – all on my snap!! Look for chrissyteigen ❤️❤️❤️

Despite her seemingly picture perfect life, it hasn’t always been rainbow and butterflies for Chrissy and she has been open about the struggles she has had with body image issuesalcoholism, as well as fertility issues – she went through in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and had chosen her baby’s sex. Recently in 2017, she shared about her postpartum depression in a heartfelt letter to Glamour.

hi my lulu!

Despite her difficult journey towards motherhood, it seems that Chrissy has managed to overcome all the setbacks and obstacles she faced and is stronger than ever. Judging from her tweets about being a mum, she loves her new role in life and she has even shared that can’t wait to have another child.

2017 has already been a power-packed year for Chrissy, and we can’t wait to see what else she will do!

My stoop buddy
