In our home, putting up the Christmas tree is a big deal, we make a little tradition out of it. We’d choose an evening in late November, light a Christmas scented candle (usually from Yankee Candle), play some Christmas carols and sing along while my husband, the kids and I decorate the tree. There’s always lots of laughing, dancing and singing (and mum rearranging) and after we’d all sit around admiring our handiwork and get really excited for Christmas.
We love a real tree and usually get one from either Ji Mei Flower or Far East Flora, but some years (more rarely), we stick to the artificial tree we bought years ago at Tangs. I love how my home smells when we have a fresh tree, what I don’t love is cleaning under the tree multiple times a day. But I still think a real tree adds a little something to the magic of Christmas. Fresh or fake, we’ve got them both covered. Here’s list of place to get your trees around our little red dot.
FRESH TREES
Far East Flora
You can’t drive past Thomson Road and not notice (and smell) the massive Christmas tree selection at Far East Flora and Goodwood Florist. Prices start at $113 for a 4-5ft Noble Fir (inclusive of tree stand). They restock often, but its always best to ask and book the size you want early.

Ji Mei Flower
This great shop runs behind Far East Flora along Joan Road and is another great nursery with loads of fresh plants and fresh cut flowers housed in a cold room. But come Christmas, they are full of beautiful Christmas trees. Prices have yet to be announced so watch this space for updates.

Corona Florist & Nursery
For mummies in the west, Corona is a good option for getting fresh trees for Christmas. These sell out quickly so be sure to book early.

East Coast mums can get their Christmas trees at Bedok Garden & Landscaping at reasonable prices but book them early because they have a reputation for booking out fast!

Prince’s Landscape & Construction
Book your firs early at Prince’s. The regular sized ones usually go pretty quick so unless you’re looking for a small house of a tree, book early. Firs start at $171 with delivery and set up.

They don’t offer the trees as early as some of the bigger nurseries but if you like getting your trees a little later and for a decent price to boot then Song Lang Gardens is it!

I was surprised when I walked into a Cold Storage with fresh trees some years ago. But you know, if you’re grabbing the turkey, and ham, some nuts, and a whole lot of groceries, you may as well grab a tree while you’re at it. One less thing to think about.

Prices range from $128 for a 5-6ft tree to $328 for an 8-9ft number. Add a little extra cost-wise for a stand (because propping trees against a wall really doesn’t work). Trees are already in stock, so get cracking on your order: delivery is free!
