Famous for his role as Dawson on the famed Dawson’s Creek, James Vand Der Beek is our dad crush for the week.
15-year-old James convinced his mother to bring him to New York in an attempt to kick-start his acting career. This proved a wise move – just a year later, the teenager made his first professional debut off-Broadway starring in productions Finding The Sun and Rain Dance.
He appeared in films Angus and I Love You, I Love You Not before auditioning for Dawson’s Creek and landing the lead role. The show ran for six seasons and made him a heartthrob to many starry-eyed teenagers
He is married to Kimberly Van Der Beek and together, they have four kids.
James starred in the teen drama, Varsity Blues and won an MTV Movie Award for it.

Due to unexpected brain inactivity on our part, we missed the @goodplusfdn Halloween event, (whole story on my IG stories)… But wanted to highlight the organization. It’s parents helping parents by providing low-income families with the tools, education, goods and services they need to break the cycle of poverty and to create lasting, sustainable change for themselves and their little ones. They partner with many local networks and have donated $35m worth of goods throughout the US. Check them out. @jessseinfeld
This dad plays the doting, hands-on dad really well. We see he spends alot of time with the kids, bringing them out for days at the park, or fishing – everything kids just love doing with mummy and daddy.
Wife & I were woken up at 5:30 AM by a young bed-crasher… and she mentioned she’d had a dream that our kids were grown, and our life had been good… but that we’d give anything to go back to when our kids were these exact ages, even for just one day. It’s tough to stay #woke when you’re tired AF… but I don’t think we’ll ever regret having made the effort ❤️
The actor is currently working on a couple of on-going shows and we are excited to see what else this hot daddy will be doing in the near future.
Loved reading this? We’ve got so many more dad crushes for you right here.
