The youngest child of Spanish singer, Julio Iglesias
With over 170 million records sold worldwide, 150 number one hits across the Billboard Charts and the record holder for the most number-one hits and longest-running number-one hit on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks and now a proud dad of two – Enrique Iglesias is our dad crush for the week!
Enrique is the youngest child of Spanish singer, Julio Iglesias. Enrique did not tell his dad about his plans to pursue a career in music as he did not want his surname “Iglesias” to be the reason for his career advancement. So, he recorded a demo under the stage name Enrique Martinez and was officially signed to Fonovisa Records.
In 1995, he dropped out of college to record his first album and eventually reverted to Enrique Iglesias – making him one of the biggest stars in Latin American and the Hispanic Market. By the 2000s, he managed to successfully cross over to the mainstream music market and signed a multi-album deal with Universal Music Group for US$68million.
He is now with Sony Music.
He was part of Download to Donate project by Music for Relief, an organisation started by American rock band, Linkin Park. He co-produced the album, Download to Donate. He also supports City of Hope, Habitat For Humanity, Help for Heroes, Live Earth, The Salvation Army and other charitable causes like the Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Enrique and his partner, Anna Kournikova met on the set of his Escape music video. They have been together since 2001 and just last year on 16 December, welcomed twins, Nicholas and Lucy.
Here’s a dose of the main man himself. @enriqueiglesias
