They do not have to be a biological mum to make a difference; as long as they have played a part in their children’s lives, they deserve to be honoured every day. Mummyfique salutes all mums this weekend with Letter to Mummy, an exclusive series where three special families pen heartfelt surprise notes to honour the woman of the house, Mum.
Letter To Mummy by Theo, Clover And Adam Groves: Mum, We Honour You

Mummyfique is all about mums with a platform created by mums. Mums come in all kinds of variations and this Mother’s Day, as we introduce our last feature in this series of Letter To Mummy, we want to honour all mums from different family units, from single to nuclear to blended to interracial.
To conclude the series of Letter To Mummy, we present Yilian, fashion editor turned floral designer and stepmum to two lovely children, Theo and Clover. Being from two distinct cultures, Yilian admits that her relationship with her husband, Adam “hasn’t been a smooth ride” but they have “made it work”. Adam was going through an intensely acrimonious divorce as he was studying for his second PhD. He was simultaneously juggling a full-time job plus also being a sole caregiver to his kids.
Yilian became part of the family when Clover was one and Theo was four at that time. She says, “Nothing will trump the place that biological parents have in their children’s hearts, and you must be okay with that. It’s the hardest part I have to deal with.”
