Dad Crush Monday: Qi Yuwu

By Samantha Jong
July 18, 2016

Although he is based in Beijing and spends a fair amount of time away from his wife and daughter, actor Qi Yu Wu has been doing his best to be a good father and husband. He once mentioned in an interview that he wants to respect his children: “My children can also influence me and I need to learn from them. I feel like it’s a two-way thing and I will learn as much from my child as my child will learn from me.” His attitude towards parenting is one of the reasons why he’s our dad crush of the week. Check out our other reasons below:

A hands on dad, he has been helping wife Joanne Peh with the childcare duties as and while she was recovering from childbirth, even personally brewed nourishing soups for her. Qi who was by Peh’s side throughout the 16 hour labour process, sees birth as a “beautiful and miraculous process“. He posted this photo not long after Joanne gave birth:

His love for his little family can be felt through his Instagram feed where you can often see photos such as the ones below. There, he snaps intimate moments of Joanne taking care of baby Qi — carrying her, feeding her, and playing with her:

Every time looking at this view, time disappear.

His star factor has been rising these past few years. He won Best Actor Award at the 2016 Star Awards ceremony and has rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in Singapore’s entertainment industry:

Despite that, he remains down-to-earth and humble, supporting charity concerts on date night with wife Joanne, and dedicating a post to foreigners working in Singapore. He revealed that he identifies with them as he too has to leave his family behind when he works:

However, being based in Beijing doesn’t stop him and Joanne from keeping the flame alive, and from the looks of it, their relationship is still going strong:

Good-looking, kind-hearted, charismatic, and a wonderful husband and father to boot — no wonder he’s made our dad crush list! (Ps. Don’t you think he has barely aged a day since his very first I-Weekly cover?)

N years ago my first I-weekly cover, so yummy.
