This little tot has not known life outside the spotlight. Then again it’s all part of being the third in the line to the throne when you were born and it doesn’t help when your parents are one of the most famous and well-loved couples in the world, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or better known as Prince William and Kate Middleton. The public has had their eyes on him ever since he was born and it is evident that they like his sense of style. His sweater vest and shirt combo is one that many parents have taken to dressing their children in – we’re pretty sure that he’s the one responsible for the surge in the number of children sweaters that have been sold in the UK and around the world over the last few years.

The popular little one turned four on Saturday (22 July) and it’s hard to believe that it’s been four years since that faithful day that everyone was waiting to hear if the Duke and Duchess were having a little prince or princess. As per the usual tradition, the royal family shared a new portrait of the little prince in commemoration of his fourth birthday and to our surprise, George was dressed in a striped mandarin collared shirt, instead of the usual collared shirt or sweater and shorts combination that he is usually seen in. The adorable blonde boy showed off his gapped tooth smile in a blue and white striped mandarin collared shirt in the portrait. The other surprise was that instead of Kate taking the birthday portrait, the family decided to go with a shot of the youngster captured by Getty photographer Chris Jackson, who has been on tours with the family lately.

This little one has seen more of the world than most adults have, especially since Will and Kate have been taking him and his little sister more frequently on their royal engagements. He was recently spotted having a great time exploring helicopters as the royal family finished up their official tour of Poland and Germany.

Given his keen interest in flying objects, he may just take after his father’s footsteps and fly for the Royal Armed Forces.

Maybe it’s because he has grown up in front of a camera, but the little prince is perfectly at ease in front of them and is not afraid to show how he feels even when there is a lens pointed his way. As a result, he’s been captured in a plethora of facial expressions, from pouts to showing his displeasure at being on tour.

This sometimes stoic looking little one takes after his father. It’s not just the manner in which he is dressed, which is an unofficial dress code that they royal family adopts, but his demeanour, where he knows that he isn’t just like any other little boy on the street.
We think that it’s lovely that he has such as a good relationship with his dad William. It’s a bit different from what the royals traditionally do, but we think it’s a good development. In an interview earlier this year, William did mention that he wanted to raise the little prince to be able to talk about his emotions and feelings, hence the close bond that you see between the two now.

With the great support that he has from his parents, we’re sure that great things are in store for him. After all, how many four-year-olds can say that they have had the privilege of meeting the former President of the United States, Barack Obama in a nightgown?
