We know that sometimes striving to keep fit can be a pain, especially if your routines get mundane. However, if one of your resolutions for this new year is to get in shape, why not grab your significant other and mix it up with one of these sports? Try one every month or even sign up for all at once — the greater the variety the better, right? Plus, you get to spend some much deserved quality time with the spouse. It’s a win-win plan, we think.

Acroyoga

I love this picture. Not only does it represent our co-parenting relationship (respect, trust, communication), but that hand placement on my inner thigh cracks me up ? too. Thank you ? @actionhiro for your creativity and artistic eye ??

Ever wanted to be one of those cool acroyoga practising couples you see on Instagram? Now’s your chance to learn! There are many different types of yoga for various purposes, but this unique type incorporates acrobatic moves into traditional yoga poses, which explains the often jaw-dropping balancing acts. Plus, acroyoga will help strengthen your muscles as well as building up the trust and bond between you and your significant other.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

Focusing on unarmed combat without having to strike your opponent, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based on grappling and using ground fighting techniques such as joint locks and choke holds. This means that BJJ would require plenty of skin on skin contact, so who better to be in such close contact with than your special person?

If you’ve seen someone practicing Capoeira, you’d be amazed at how graceful and flowing the movements are. Originally used by slaves to overpower their masters, Capoeira is now used to help people overcome their physical and mental limitations. Great for competitive couples, as each will have to strategise and outwit the other in order to win.
