Our mum crush of the week is a patriotic Singaporean who wowed everyone with her acting skills but now resides in Taiwan with her young family. She’s former Mediacorp darling, Yvonne Lim who uprooted herself from our island nation to join her husband and former boyband member, Alex Tien in Taiwan. The couple are now based there together with their son Alex Junior, better known as AJ.
It seems that being a mum agrees with her and the family revealed in July that they expecting a second child and companion for AJ. The baby is due in January 2017.
And it’s double happiness for the extended family as Yvonne’s sister is also expecting her second child, and they spent quality sister bonding time in Taipei before they both pop.
The spunky actress may miss home and acting, but she makes the most of the time in Taiwan by filling it with playdates, being a stay-at-home mum and hanging out with friends, some who are big names in Taiwan, such as fellow personality Christine Fan, and singer and long time friend, Fish Leong.
Yvonne also enjoys having playing host to her Singaporean friends who visit such as Hong Hui Fang who has known her for 17 years.
And when she can, she comes back home with AJ to catch up with friends and family, while getting some shoots done on the side.
Though she’s now based overseas, she is far from being forgotten here in Singapore and has been featured on the cover of local publications, such as iWeekly, 8 Days, Nuyou and Motherhood even after departing for Taiwan.
The Singapore girl at heart can’t do without her beloved local food. You can imagine how delighted she was when she found a Singaporean chef who could whip up dishes like black pepper crab and char kway teow for her, and she’s working hard to introduce not just AJ but even her in-laws to the wonders of Singapore cuisine.
Though we miss her on our local screens, her frequent updates via social on her life in Taiwan and love for all things to do with Singapore help us know how she’s doing and we wish her nothing but the best as she prepares for motherhood the second time around.
