Recent news of Disney’s upcoming release of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson has gotten us all excited in the office. It has certainly brought out our inner child inspiring this list of five of our favourite child friendly Disney movies that were recently remade. Movie night in with the kids anyone? Now all we’re lacking is some popcorn.

1.Cinderella

Bippity boppity boo! The quintessential Disney classic, you can never go wrong with Cinderella. After all, every little girl dreams of having a Fairy Godmother and finding her Prince Charming. If this doesn’t bring out your inner child, we don’t know what would!

2. The Jungle Book

For those unfamiliar with the story, Mowgli is an abandoned man cub raised by wolves in the jungle, and the movie follows his adventures evading Shere Khan the tiger, and building a family with the wolves, Baloo the bear, and Bagheera the black panther. The animated movie first came out in 1967, and was remade into a live action, CGI film in 2016 that has received great reviews.

3. Mulan

The epitome of girl power, Mulan taught us we could do anything we put our mind to, and that it was important to figure out who you were inside. She went against her father’s wishes, secretly joined the army, and was anything BUT your demure princess. Not your typical Disney damsel in distress but that is why we love her!

4. Lilo and Stitch

A personal favourite, Lilo and Stitch is all about the family, not judging a book by its cover and acceptance. If there’s one thing we’ve learnt it is that “Ohana” means ‘family’ and ‘family’ means that no one gets left behind or forgotten.” Important life lessons for everyone.

Put your beat footwork forward.

5. Alice in Wonderland

Everyone is familiar with the story of Alice falling down the rabbit hole, and the latest version starring Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp is no different. What we can learn from Alice in Wonderland: do not be afraid to take a leap of faith, you’ll never know what adventure awaits you at the other end of the Rabbit Hole.

Public Service Announcement: The Disney Channel is going to have a movie marathon of all the past Disney movies. From High School Musical to Cadet Kelly, check out the schedule here!
