At 72 years of age, Mick Jagger is to become a dad again! News that the Rolling Stones legend will be welcoming his eighth child with ballerina Melanie Hamrick (who is 29 years his junior) has been trending online, proving that age is clearly not a factor when it comes to fatherhood. Indeed, Jagger, who is already a great-grandfather himself is leading the pack of suave celeb dads who have had babies in their later years. In this story, we look at our favourite silver haired dads who clearly (to draw inspiration from Maroon 5) have the ‘moves like Jagger’.
1. Mick Jagger, 72
Expecting his eighth child with 29 year-old American ballerina, Melanie Hamrick, the couple are said to be “surprised and happy” with the news. This new addition will be the singer’s eighth child from five different women. His oldest child Karis Hunt Jagger, 45, was conceived from his relationship with American star Marsha Hunt. This was followed by Jade Jagger, 44, with ex-wife Bianca Jagger and four kids with ex-partner Jerry Hall including Elizabeth, 32, James, 30, Georgia, 24 and Gabriel, 18. His youngest, Lucas, was born in 1999 from his fling with Luciana Gimenez. But that’s not it, Jagger also has five grandchildren and in 2014 became a great-grandfather when his granddaughter Assisi Jackson (Jade Jagger’s daughter) gave birth to a baby girl. Now if that isn’t an empire, we don’t know what is.
2. Ronnie Wood, 69
Mick Jagger’s Rolling Stone bandmate welcomed his newborn twin daughters earlier last month with wife Sally Wood who is 31 years his junior. The couple, who got married in December 2015, revealed that they shed tears when their beautiful daughters were born. Father to four other children, Wood has revealed to Hello! magazine that he’s been an active father to the twins helping with burping, walking and nappy changing. Oh, and he sings to them of course.
3. Rod Stewart, 71
Rod Stewart’s youngest son Aiden with current wife Penny Lancaster was born in 2011 when the singer was 66-years old. The father of eight (from different relationships) became a grandfather just six months after Aiden was born when his daughter Kimberly Stewart gave birth to her first child Delilah Genoveya. A child and a grandchild of the same age? Well, that’s just how rock stars roll!
4. Paul McCartney, 74
In 2003, the Beatles icon had his fifth child Beatrice at the age of 61 when he was still married to ex-wife Heather Mills. Today, McCartney is also grandfather to eight grandchildren, two of whom were born before Beatrice.
5. Clint Eastwood, 86
He may only have gotten married twice but the acclaimed actor-director has seven children by five women. His youngest daughter, Morgan, was born to his second wife Dina in 1996 when he was 66-years old. Now aged 19, Morgan is close to her half-sister Francesca as they were co-stars on their reality TV series, Mrs. Eastwood & Company.
