Foodie Family: Prive Orchard

My husband and I enjoy dining out with the minis and we are always on the look out for great spaces to dine together as a family, and our preference is for nice casual spaces as a place where our littles ones are able to be usual energetic selves is always a good idea.

When we learnt that Prive Orchard had opened it’s fifth outlet right in Orchard Road, in front of Wheelock Place and saw that it was a nice alfresco location, and had kid’s meals we knew we had to give it a try as The Prive Group’s food offerings have always been wonderfully consistent. Check out the video below to see how the dishes fared.

Service was really prompt and our kids were given activity sheets and a set of colour pencils immediately after we were seated. This was a huge plus as it occupied them and allowed the adults browse the menu in relative peace. We needed that time to browse through the wide selection of options on the menu that ranged from all day breakfast items to pastas and mains. There was even a selection of local favourites like laksa and chicken rice, if that’s your preference.

After much deliberation, we chose the Kid’s Meal cheeseburger and got the Ultimate Signature Breakfast,Hainanese Chicken Rice and the Slow-cooked Beef Ragu Penne to share. I’m pleased to say that the ordered dishes arrived quickly, before my minis could start asking me when the food was coming.

Overall, the portions were substantial and were of great value for the price we paid.

For the Kid’s Meal, it was not a lesser version of their usual burger, just a smaller portion, and the meat patty that was wedged between two soft and fluffy buns was thick and juicy. The meal included a drink and dessert too.

The Ultimate Signature Breakfast was a full plate with a choice of eggs, sausage and the works, this was great for sharing with the children who promptly abandoned the burger when this arrived at our table.

Prive didn’t fare badly with their Hainanese Chicken Rice. The tender chicken perfectly complimented the fragrant rice, and for us, the chilli was the winner of the dish.

The Slow-Cooked  Beef Ragu with Penne came with very generous chunks of meat. Though delicious, it was a little too rich and heavy on the palate for an afternoon meal.

The family enjoyed the breezy open-air space, which was well-ventilated and we didn’t feel hot and sticky at all. Given it’s location in the Orchard Road belt, it’s a convenient refuelling stop for those looking to grad a bite while out shopping with the family. The minis enjoyed the food offerings, and the upbeat music that was playing throughout the afternoon, as well as the activity sets, kept them entertained and engaged throughout the meal. I can say for sure that our family will definitely be back.
