6 Multitasking Makeup Products for Busy Mums

Us women — and especially the busy mums out there — are known to be consummate multitaskers so why shouldn’t we expect our make up to do the same? In fact, if like me you often find yourself choosing a few minutes more sleep over the time needed to doll up then these multitasking products are exactly what you need. By allowing you to streamline your beauty stash, these hardworking products either offer multiple uses or skincare benefits for those who have no time for proper skin prep and will be your new best friends! After all, less is often more, no? In this case, we certainly think so.

CC Creams are meant to help with colour correcting, to even out redness or help with sallow looking skin but Chanel’s CC Cream goes beyond that by offering five benefits when worn — it is said to correct signs of aging (thanks to the anti-ageing properties of the Prunus persica peach extract ingredient), soothe the skin, moisturise (with hyaluronic acid), protects (SPF 50) and perfects (coated pigments help to reduce redness, dark spots and enlarged pores), all in a single step. Although it cannot replace good skincare complete, on days where you’re busy and don’t have time to serum/moisturise/cream yourself up, the CC Cream is just the thing. Lighter than your typical foundation, the cream can be used on its own or as a primer before powdering.

$85, available at the CHANEL Fragrance and Beauty boutiques are located in VivoCity, ION Orchard and The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Cushion foundations are all the rage offering the user more control and often results in fresh, dewy looking skin. This cream foundation doesn’t just come with SPF for sun protection, it also has skincare properties to nourish the skin at the same time. Wi ingredients such as chilhyang palbaeksan and wild chrysanthemum extract, this cream hydrates the skin while whitening it so it doesn’t matter if you forgot to put on that whitening serum after all!

$76, available at the History of Whoo counter, TANGS at Tang Plaza Beauty Hall Level 1.

Available in a stunning range of colours, these cream eyeshadows are easy to blend, work well alone but they (in particular the lighter shades) can also be used as a primer for powder eyeshadows to last longer. If you have a narrow applicator on hand, it be applied as an eyeliner as well — so many uses in one little pot of goodness!

Let’s face it. Lipstick is one of the few things that can brighten up your face with a few quick swipes but if it dries out your lips, resulting in flaky looking puckers, then it kind of defeats the purpose. So it’s unsurprising that there are a plethora of ‘moisturising’ lipsticks in the market but Bobbi Brown’s Nourshing Lip Color Oil-Infused Shine takes it one step further by offering the finish of a lipstick with the benefits of a lip balm. This is, in fact, a solid lip oil formulated with a blend of five natural plant oils and butter like Olive Oil Complex and Cocoa Seed Butter to provide hydration while offering 18 different shades to choose from. We love it because it helps us to look and feel good and lips feel softer, smoother and plumper even after the lipstick has been removed! Another trick: for days where all you have is your lipstick on hand and you need a pop of colour on your cheeks, simply swipe a few lines across your cheeks, blend and use it as a cream blush.

$38, Bobbi Brown, #B2-45, ION Orchard.

This little palette may be billed as an illuminating finishing powder but depending on the shades you choose (of which there are six), it can be a bronzer, a highlighter, all over powder or even six eyeshadows. This multitasking wonder offers so many uses should be a must-have in every handbag.

$83, Bobbi Brown, #B2-45, ION Orchard.

It is rare to find blushers with skincare properties but that is precisely what By Terry’s Cellularose Blush Glace offers. This gel blusher is light, adds a touch of radiance to the skin and has ingredients such as Vitamin E and ultra-hydrating phospholipids to help moisturise, sooth and refresh the skin.
