4 Ways to Celebrate International Women’s Day in Singapore 2017

With International Women’s Day coming up (8 March 2017), here are some ways you can celebrate the occasion in Singapore.

The Fullerton Hotel will be celebrating women for the month of March with their “Fullerton Celebrates Women” campaign. Not only will the hotel be hosting an art exhibition titled Les Ailes d’une Femme (Wings of a Woman), there will also be a special International Women’s Day Afternoon tea at The Courtyard created by its executive pastry chef Enrico Pezzelato.

The tea comprises seven savouries and eight sweets that feature all-natural ingredients such as carrots, saffron, corn and oranges. Enjoy creations such as Smoked Duck with Roasted Yellow Capsicum and Orange on Saffron Roll, as well as sweet delights such as Mango Profiteroles and of course, freshly baked scones. Priced at S$48 (including free-flow tea and coffee), each tea set sold will see The Fullerton Hotel Singapore donate S$5 to SCWO Service Fund in support of marginalised women.

 Spa Treat at Mandarin Oriental

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Spa will be having a one-day promotion in celebration of International Women’s Day where women who book a body massage will get to enjoy a complimentary manicure as well. This is only valid on 8 March 2017 so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

 Join a Charity Drive at Embrace Jewellery

In conjunction with International Women’s Day, multi-brand jewellery store Embrace Jewellery will be organising The Re-Embrace Charity Drive in partnership with The Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation (SCWO). Kicking off on 8 March 2017, the aim is to encourage people to donate their pre-loved jewellery pieces which will then be re-sold at SCWO’s New2U Thrift Shop.

Proceeds will go towards Star Shelter, a crisis shelter that provides a safe temporary refuge for women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence, and other SCWO initiatives. Do note that only a minimum of three pieces of costume jewellery or accessories (in good condition) will be accepted and in return, each donor will receive a S$5 gift voucher that can be redeemed at Embrace Jewellery as well as a chance to take part in a lucky draw with jewellery prizes worth over S$2,000 to be won.
