Popularised by K-pop idol and actress Suzy Bae, 4-2-4 is the time in minutes that you should spend on each step of the cleansing process.

Step 1: Use an oil cleanser and gently massage your face for four minutes to remove the dirt and makeup from your face. This helps increase blood circulation at the same time.

Step 2: Work your foam cleanser into a lather on your face for two minutes.

Step 3: Wash your face for four minutes. Use lukewarm water before finishing off with cold water. Don’t use a towel to dry your face; instead, lightly pat your face and allow it to dry naturally.

Sheet Mask Sandwich

We know that Korean skeet masks are widely popular, but did you know that there is a method to use it called the ‘sheet-mask-sandwich’?

Use a sheet mask as per normal for 15 to 20 minutes. Lift the sheet mask and apply serum from a bottle to your skin and place the sheet mask back over for another 15 to 20 minutes.

The sheet mask is said to hydrate and prep your skin for the serum and covering your face again will help your skin to better absorb the serum.

7 Skin Method

In Korea, toners are referred to as ‘skins’, hence this method is to apply toner on your skin seven times. And the best part is that it only takes five minutes and uses just one product.

After cleansing, pour toner on a cotton pad and swipe it over your face and neck. While your skin is still damp, pour toner on your hands and gently pat it into your skin. Repeat this step another five times, each time while your skin is still damp.

It’s said to be an effective alternative to rich moisturisers for those with oily skin and is hydrating for the skin. The toner you pick should not contain alcohol as this will dry out instead of hydrate the skin.
