By Samantha Jong
September 22, 2016

It’s that time of the year again, where the who’s who of the fashion industry flock to the major cities of the world, showcasing their latest designs and finding out what’s in next season. For us, Fashion Week also means a multitude of beauty tips and inspirations that we can follow in our daily lives. We’ve scoured the Internet for the top three beauty tips inspired by the the shows at the latest New York Fashion Week (SS17) that we think all you modern mummies will love.

Cream Kohl

This is one tip that many bleary-eyed mums (ourselves included) should have in their repertoire. There are many makeup hacks out there that help you look like you’ve had your nine undisrupted hours of sleep but the latest trend is cream kohl. Spotted as a trick used by makeup artists at shows such as Rodarte to make the models’ eyes look well rested, all you have to do is choose a liner closest to your skin colour and use it in place of your usual eyeliner. The result is fresher, brighter eyes.

Why we love it: It’s a great alternative to the usual eyeliner choices and is so easy to wear. Plus, every mum wants to look less tired.

The Updated Half-Up

We’ve all worn a variation of this hairstyle at some point in our lives, and thanks to the look being featured at shows such as Zac Posen and Tory Burch, it’s trending yet again! Quick and easy, there are many variations to this hairstyle:

Tousled and lived-in.

Or slick and girly.

Wrap a lock of hair around the band for a more polished touch.

Why we love it: besides taking less than five minutes to do, it brings a touch of sophistication and helps hold hair away from your face — perfect for mummies!

Two Tone Lips

The classic red lip never goes out of style. However, if you find it too bright, why not try a two-tone lip instead. We spotted some great examples at Cushnie et Ochs  (red top lip, pink bottom lip) and Jason Wu (a touch of orange).

Why we love it: Adding a different shade of lipstick is a quick and easy way to create a slightly more interesting look.
