Five Ways To Relight The Fire: Tips from Burlesque Star Sukki Singapora

Valentine’s Day might be over but there’s no reason why us mums should be a slouch in the bedroom. Yes, we know, motherhood is tiring but a bit of fun never really goes amiss and everyday can be Valentine’s Day, so long as we make the effort to inject some romance into the equation.

To that end, we enlisted an expert to share some tips on how mums can relight the fire in the bedroom. After all, who better to share some sexy advice than Singapore’s very own burlesque star — Sukki Singapora.

SUKKI SINGAPORA:

Burlesque isn’t just about the performance on stage, it’s also about body confidence, sensuality, and feeling great as a woman. Incorporating the spirit of burlesque into the bedroom can be a fantastic way to rekindle the fire with your loved one. Here are my top five burlesque-inspired tips to keep the romance blossoming:

1) Sexy lingerie chosen by you!

We’ve all been guilty at some point of dressing for our partners rather than ourselves when it comes to romance, but the key to being sexy is feeling sexy — not just for them but for yourself! Try swapping ‘itsy bitsy’ lingerie for more flattering vintage cuts, or high-waisted knickers, especially if you’re worried about your tummy area. There are so many different styles that compliment and flatter the figure in so many colours and fabrics, and if you’re feeling great about your body, you’ll naturally ooze sensuality. There’s nothing more sexy than a woman’s smile.

2) Dim the lighting

If you’re feeling a little self-conscious you might think the easiest option is to turn off the lights completely when it comes to time in the bedroom. Instead, try using a dimmer switch, soft lamps or perhaps taking the time to light your space with candles. Experiment with different mood lighting until you get one you feel happiest in. My favourite lighting when I’m on stage is a soft light, and the same applies at home. No more fumbling in the dark!

3) Get dressed up.. for bed

When it comes to time with your partner, plus juggling a hectic work-life balance, your intimate time together can often be pushed late into the evenings. But going to bed doesn’t mean it needs to be makeup wipes at the ready and hair pinned back. Even just a little makeup can be a great way to regain your spark in the bedroom and feel sexy. Lip glosses or tints rather than lipsticks can make you instantly feel sassy without feeling ‘overdone’. Just don’t forget to cleanse before you go to sleep!

4) Try a different location

There’s nothing better than changing up the setting to reignite your passion. Taking a mini-break and checking into a hotel for a night of romance can instantly bring the excitement back into your love life. You absolutely deserve to spoil yourselves once in a while, and that means not waiting for an occasion to do so! The unfamiliarity of a hotel suite can be just the thing you need to spice things up a little.

5) Take a burlesque lesson!

Why not try out burlesque? You don’t have to want to take to the stage to take a burlesque class! Burlesque is a great way to unleash your inner sensuality and learn to ooze confidence and sexiness. There’s no better excuse to take a class in the Art of the Tease than to relight your playful side in the bedroom. And don’t forget most importantly, when it comes to intimacy with your partner, just relax and have fun! Take the pressure off and enjoy the moment.
