With the party season coming up, I took my daughter to J’s Salon to learn some matching mummy-daughter festive hairstyles that are easy-peasy to recreate at home. I also brought my friend and fellow mummy, private banker Serene Chua (and her adorable daughter Amber) along for the ride.
Look 1: Easy bun
A look-alike bun hairstyle that is super easy to pull off.
Step 1: Tie your hair in a ponytail
Step 2: Pull your hair up bit by bit from the top of the ponytail to create volume.
It should look like this:
Step 3: Tuck the ends of your hair into a bun, securing with bobby pins.
It should look like this:

Look 2: Simple Braid Cheat
This hairstyle looks just like a braid, but it’s much easier to pull off.
Step 1: Start by picking two thin strips of hair on the side of your head.
Step 2: Cross the left strip over the right strip.
Step 3: Hold on to the right strip and pick up a new thin strip of hair on the left, once again crossing the left strip over the right strip.
Step 4: Repeat until you form a full “braid”.
The look is suitable for both mummy and baby.
Look 3: Short Hair Braid
Even if you and your daughter have short hair like Serene and Amber, you can still tie a simple braid to jazz things up.
Step 1: Tie a braid on either side of the head.
The little ones can just have the braid on one side.
Step 2: As an additional option, tie a ponytail for a cleaner look.
A look that suits both the young and young at heart!
We had a wonderful time!
