Focusing on delivering the softest, most luxurious yet sustainable fabrics, Nest Designs has created a range of sleepwear for little ones – and adults – in lightweight cotton or bamboo. Most recently, the Canadian brand opened its first Southeast Asia store in Singapore, and we catch up with its founder, Tammy Lo.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Tammy Lo, founder of Nest Designs and mum of two boys

Creative, determined, and curious.

Tell us a little about your family and your growing up years.

I grew up in Canada in a household that valued both creativity and hard work — my dad encouraged me to dream big, but also to roll up my sleeves and get things done. My family always supported me and gave me the belief that I could do anything!

My husband has been my biggest cheerleader from day one, and our little ones keep life wonderfully unpredictable and full of chaos and laughter. Family has always been at the heart of what I do, and much of Nest Designs’ inspiration comes from my own experiences as a mum.

How did Nest Designs begin?

Nest Designs began from my love of thoughtful design and my frustration at not being able to find baby products that balanced comfort, practicality, and timeless style. I started designing small batches of accessories with soft, sustainable fabrics, and over time, our little “nest” grew into a full brand loved by families around the world.

What were some  challenges you faced when setting up the business?

Like most small businesses, we had plenty of learning curves — from navigating manufacturing and sourcing sustainable fabrics, to understanding different markets and their safety standards. In the early days, there were moments where it felt like every solution created three new problems! But those challenges shaped us, and they taught me resilience, flexibility, and the value of building a great team.

What makes Nest Designs different?

We blend modern, elevated designs with functionality parents can count on — think fabrics that are luxuriously soft yet durable enough for endless washes, and prints that feel fresh but not fleeting. We’re also committed to sustainability, which means choosing eco-conscious fabrics, avoiding overproduction, and designing products to last and be passed down.

What prompted the decision to bring the brand to Singapore?

Singapore felt like the perfect next step, it’s a gateway to the rest of Southeast Asia and already home to a loyal (and growing!) Nest Designs community. We wanted to be closer to our customers here, make shopping easier and faster, and create collections tailored to the local climate.

What are the top three products in your range and why?

  1. Bamboo Sleep Bags – A parent favourite for keeping little ones cozy and safe at night, with breathable, temperature-regulating fabric.
  2. Convertible Sleep Suits – Designed for wriggly sleepers and early walkers, they are the perfect transition for those who still can’t keep a blanket on but want the independence of walking around.
  3. Everyday Bamboo Pajamas – Ultra-soft, durable, and designed for both comfort and style, so kids can wear them from story time to breakfast.

Share with us the importance of sustainability in Nest Designs and Petite Revery and how you'll be adapting your practices for the Singapore market.

Sustainability isn’t just a trend for us — it’s a core value. We use eco-friendly fabrics like bamboo and organic cotton, keep our designs timeless to reduce waste, and partner with ethical manufacturers. In Singapore, we’re focusing on lighter, breathable fabrics for the climate, and we’ll be introducing smaller, curated drops to match the market’s needs while avoiding overproduction.

Describe your typical day, both at home and at work.

My mornings usually start with family breakfast and the organized chaos of getting my little ones ready for the day. Once I’m at work, no two days are the same — some are filled with creative meetings about upcoming collections, others are deep dives into operations, logistics, or marketing plans. Evenings are family time, with a mix of dinner, play, and bedtime stories before I sneak in a few emails or design sketches once the house is quiet.

Three things you love about being a mum...

  1. Seeing the world through my child’s eyes — everything feels new again.
  2. The snuggles (they’re the best!).
  3. The motivation to be the best version of myself, both at home and at work.

How has becoming a mum impacted your outlook in life and in business?

It’s made me more patient, more empathetic, and more focused on what really matters. In business, I think more about longevity — not just in products, but in the brand’s values and the way we treat our customers, team, and the planet.

Future plans for Nest Designs, such as perhaps extending the shopping experience online for Singapore?

Yes! We’re working on creating a dedicated online shopping experience for Singapore with local shipping, curated collections, and special promotions just for our community here. We also hope to bring more in-person events and pop-ups to connect with our customers face-to-face.

Tell us more about The Nest Designs & Petite Revery Village and how it has helped fellow mums.

The Village is our way of building a supportive, inspiring space for mums. We share parenting tips, host events, and collaborate with experts to make motherhood a little less overwhelming and a lot more connected. It’s a place where mums can share, learn, and feel seen.

Three mum essentials in my bag are...

    1. Snacks (for my child and, let’s be honest, for me).
    2. Hand Sanitiser
    3. Wet wipes – a mum’s secret weapon.
