Our mum crush of the week is an angel, a Victoria’s Secret Angel to be exact. Lily Aldridge is best known for strutting down the runway and showing off clothes at their best. She’s been walking with Victoria’s Secret for eight years and counting and has been an Angel for seven. She was even chosen to wear the Fantasy Bra in 2015, the most expensive bejewelled bra of the show.
Of course as a model, she doesn’t just model lingerie. She frequently makes appearances in magazines. Most recently, Lily appeared in the April 2017 issue of Vogue with other model mums such as Cindy Crawford and Alessandra Ambrosio, in an article celebrating the “mum jean”, which has been gaining popularity in the fashion sphere in recent years.
She’s also appeared on the cover of various international editions of Vogue.
Additionally, the model was featured in Vogue’s Show of Strength Piece, in honour of Vera Wang, as part of Vogue’s 125th anniversary celebration in February 2017.
She’s even made it to the shores of Singapore. She took centrestage on the November 2016 edition of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore to commemorate their 15 year anniversary.
She has shot for various fashion houses as well, among them Bulgari, Gucci, Ferragamo and Carolina Herrera, and has worked with renowned fashion photographers including Mario Testino, Peter Lindbergh and Patrick Demarchelier.
When she’s not in front of the camera, the model is an advocate for good causes like God’s Love We Deliver, which aims to deliver nutritious, individually-tailored meals to people who have life altering illnesses that prevent them from shopping or cooking for themselves.
She was awarded the 2016 Advocacy Award by the World of Children for her work with the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and advocacy with GOOD+ Foundation to raise awareness for providing low-income parents with the essentials needed to maintain the health and safety of their little ones. Lily has also fundraised for cancer research through the Victoria’s Secret Super Model Cycle, and used her voice to support No Kid Hungry and SOS Children’s Villages among other charities.
Off-duty, Lily loves hanging out with her girl squad that includes friends such as Taylor Swift.
She and her model pals are tight too, and they take their children on play dates. She’s been spotted out with fellow veteran Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio and their two bubs.
Lily married Kings of Leon singer Caleb Followill in 2011, and their daughter Dixie Pearl followed soon after in 2012.
By all accounts, the model seems to absolutely adore being a mum, stating that she feels most beautiful when she’s “with her daughter, driving her to school, making her lunch, putting her hair in a bun for ballet class” and that nothing brings more joy than just being with Dixie Pearl. She even calls the little one her best friend!
Whether it’s being bundled up because of the cold weather or frolicking underneath the sun, Lily likes to bring her little girl with her wherever she goes.
Lily really is whole package — she’s a gorgeous model, an advocate for good causes and a loving mum. We can’t wait to see what she dabbles in next.
