Our mum crush of the week walked away from the recent 59th Grammys with a whopping five awards including Record, Album, and Song Of The Year. We feel she truly deserves it – her songs never fail to strike a chord deep in your heart (in a good way, of course). But it was her speech that truly captivated us and caught the world’s attention.
Though the world will remember it as the speech where she said that the Album of the Year should have gone to “my artist of my life” Beyonce for her Lemonade album, at Mummyfique, we love that she is so honest and upfront about the challenges of motherhood on the big stage.
“In my pregnancy and through becoming a mother, I lost a lot of myself. And then I struggled. I still do struggle being a mum; it’s really hard…… winning this feels full circle, like a bit of me has come back to myself,”
It is rare for a celebrity to confess about the difficulties of real life, especially when they are encouraged to portray a glamorous front to the public.
It’s not the first time that the singer has been candid about her life. In the December 2016 cover story of Vanity Fair, she opened up about suffering from postpartum depression after she gave birth to her son, Angelo, with partner Simon Konecki, four years ago. She shared that she felt inadequate even though she loved her son to bits, and at that time, having a child felt like “the worst decision of my life.”
She also said “I love my son more than anything, but on a daily basis, if I have a minute or two, I wish I could do whatever the f— I wanted, whenever I want. Every single day I feel like that.” We are sure many fellow mums can relate to her words.
The fiercely protective mum hardly shares photos of her little one, preferring to keep him out of the public eye. She even filed a lawsuit against photo agency Corbis Images UK Limited over pictures of Angelo’s milestone moments in 2014.
The only glimpse that she has officially given the public of her little one was in 2014, when she tweeted a collage pic in support of World Water Day.

Just for the record, the 2017 Grammys isn’t the only time Adele has professed her love for Beyonce.
Her soulful voice and candidness has won her numerous fans from all over the world. Just see how many covers she has graced over the years.
The busy star may often be away from her little one, but it’s evident that she’s a hands-on parent who spends lots of time with him. Just checkbox out this beautiful banner that he created for the singer after she finished a massive 107-show tour (with a bit of help from dad, we’re certain).
Though she doesn’t share much about her family, she’s happy to show the world her au naturel self through goofy images on social media.
Real, down-to-earth, relatable and utterly gorgeous just the way she is. It’s very hard to find a reason not to love Adele, and we can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeves.
