Otherwise, try the Dietary Therapy menu at Yue Bai, helmed by Singapore chef-owner Lee Hongwei. He aims to use food’s intrinsic healing value to enhance one’s well being. The menu features a modern take on various Southern Chinese cuisines. As for their Mother’s Day menus (from $158++ per person for lunch) from 2 – 14 May, these include dishes like Australian lobsters with asparagus and jasmine flowers, and crisp-fried black sesame mochi with osmanthus-infused sugar.
Other options: Path Restaurant’s prix fixe menus on 12 and 13 May for dinner, with a Bird’s Nest Collagen dessert. Or try Beauty in the Pot’s Mum’s Nourishing Set ($98, UP $128), with Dang Gui Ebiko prawn paste, wild mushroom platter, sliced giant grouper fish or Warming Yellow Wine Kampong chicken broth to improve immunity and health levels.
3. Delectable Afternoon Teas
Enjoy a lavish Mother’s Day High Tea set ($49 for two) at PAZZION Café at Takashimaya Shopping Centre and Jewel Changi Airport in May. The set includes mini sandwiches, kueh pie tees, and a variety of meringues, fruit tarts and pudding. Complete the experience with either a new pair of shoes or a Bloom Box from The Daily Blooms at PAZZION Takashimaya from 12 to 14 May. Another option is The Marmalade Pantry from 1 May to 31 July 2023. Try the Floral Bliss Afternoon Tea Set or the Floral Bliss Petite Afternoon Tea Set ($64 to $78++ for two). Choose from Gryphon’s Botany selection of teas or the Moet & Chandon Rosé Impérial ($28++ per 200ml bottles) or lychee prosecco ($10++ per glass).
4. Set Lunches
Otherwise, head chef Shingo Iijima at Fat Cow has curated a special lunch menu ($138++ per person) inspired by his wife and mother. On the menu is a rich spread of delicately presented dishes with seasonal spring ingredients and some of his mother’s and wife’s favourite flavours. Among the dishes are the Wagyu Tsukune, Hiari Wagyu wrapped with vegetables and steamed rice seasoned with their signature Fat Shoyu truffle oil. Of special note is the dessert consisting of a layered strawberry jelly, where each layer is carefully created until finally fully formed. As a special Mother’s Day gift, guests can bring home a shio butter cake baked into a sweetheart shape.
Other options: Steak lovers should try Bedrock Bar & Grill’s Roasted Wagyu Picanha with Miyazaki A4 grilled over applewood. Set lunches are $98++ per person). Those preferring Italian can try either Altro Zafferano or Buona Terra ($78++ to $118++ and up per person respectively). Another Japanese set lunch ($138 per person) to try is at Mikuni at Fairmont Singapore. Some highlights of the meal include the slow-cooked Sanchoku Wagyu beef or grilled whole Japanese abalone. This lunch menu also includes Kampachi sashimi, Toro, Tai and Shima Aji sushi.
5. Dining with a View
If restaurants are a little too run-of-the-mill, try an Evening in the Wild ($280+ per person) at the Night Safari on 13 & 14 May from 6.30 to 9.30pm. Mums and their families can enjoy a private chartered tram ride to the Tipi Tent with a view of the reservoir and the surrounding lush fauna. The evening begins with an exclusive animal encounter, canapes and drinks, followed by a four-course Western menu with sustainably sourced ingredients.
Some dishes include an oven baked French cut lamb rack, or marinated fresh chicken leg with sauteed mushroom, and a mango mirror cake with strawberry sauce, chocolate pralines and fresh fruit. Another way is to set sail on the Royal Albatross for either a breakfast or sunset dinner cruise on 12, 13 or 14 May 2023. Mums can enjoy views of Singapore’s southern coast on the two-hour cruise. Furthermore, they can also enjoy a four to seven course dinner or breakfast buffet ($225 or $150 per adult, $125 or $95 per child).
6. Local Chinese Feasts
Celebrate Mother’s Day with the whole family, your siblings, parents and children included. Try the Cantonese restaurant Yàn from 1 to 14 May 2023 – perfect for families with busy schedules to work around. It offers six and eight-course menus (from $128.80++ to $158.80++ per person) with dishes like a roasted Peking duck and steamed lobster with Chinese wine. End off the meal on a sweet note with the sweet strawberry cake.
Other Mother’s Day options: Rempapa with Hakka Fried Pork, made traditionally with 16h marinated pork belly. Alternatively, choose from a range of seven-course menus at Min Jiang at the Goodwood Hotel and Dempsey from 6 – 7 and 13 – 14 May. These feature Sichuan and Cantonese delicacies, and complimentary longevity buns at $88 to $138 per person. Furthermore, for some great local fare, feast on the four-course menu at Chatterbox, including the Hokkien-style Bak Kut Teh and the Mandarin Chicken Rice. Add on $10 for the Lobster Laksa which is topped with a whole Boston lobster claw. Round off the celebrations with either chendol or Chatterbox’s signature coconut ice cream, with tropical fruits and walnuts in a coconut husk.
7. Buffet Lunches
For buffet lunches, try the Sea-lection (S$148++ per adult, and S$74++ for children six to 11 years old) at the Line at Shangri-la Hotel, Singapore. Comprising a selection of decadent seafood, mums and families can choose from fresh sashimi, Asian cuisines, premium offerings and a carving station. End off the meal with your choice from a wide selection of baked cakes and pastries. The chef’s specialties include the Australian beef brisket and tendon stew, baby abalone and sliced fish longevity noodles. Mums get a complimentary double-boiled Hashima with peach blossom gum. Additionally, for UOB credit cardholders, mums will dine free with three paying adults, but you’ll need a non-refundable deposit of $50 to guarantee the reservation.
8. Set Dinners
For a more luxurious experience, treat mum and the family to an unforgettable six-course meal ($169++ per person) on 13 and 14 May 2023 at Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore. Some highlights of the signature roasted USDA prime rib of beef, or the Atlantic lobster tail with grilled seabass fish fillet. Alternatively, try the Steak and Lobster Tournedo ($268++ for two) at Meadesmore for lunch or dinner from 12 – 14 May. This showcases the charcoal grilled, 150-day grain-fed Black Angus tenderloin and a whole succulent broiled Boston lobster. Accompanying the meal with two sides of pea fricassée and grilled Barigoule artichoke are two complimentary glasses of the Argentinian sparkling wine, Chandon Spritz.
9. Luxurious Picnics
