A child’s first birthday is an important milestone that parents want to remember, so when local footballer Gabriel Quak‘s daughter turned one, the doting dad decided to go all out with a safari-themed party.
When asked why they decided to go with a safari theme, Gabriel shared that it was because of how much Gladys loved animals during their outings to the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and Underwater World. Gladys’ favourite animals are birds, lions and zebras, hence these animals were the main focus for the safari set-up that Dreams and Doodle put together for the birthday bash, held at NSRCC.
The safari theme carried on into the dessert table and the cake pops, macarons and tartlets by local baker Shirlene, from Shirlytwirly, were dressed in whimsical animal prints.
Cakes are usually the main attraction of every birthday party and for Gladys’ cake, Gabriel specifically wanted a monkey on the cake at the top as Gladys is born in the year of the Monkey. The cake from Corine & Cake didn’t just have a fondant monkey, there were an assortment of other animals on the cake that was covered in animal prints too. Corine & Cake also made cupcakes that had adorable animal toppers on them.
The safari theme extended to the catering and Elsie’s Kitchen’s spread of local favourites was dressed up with a safari-themed diaper cake, zebra-printed tablecloth and wood elements.
Happy 1st birthday Gladys, from all of us at Mummyfique!
