Five Mother’s Day Gift Ideas That Are Free

By Melissa Lwee-Ramsay

With just days to go before Mother’s Day is upon us, we’re pretty sure that many of you are scrambling to find a gift at the last minute. But there’s no reason to go out and break the bank while you’re at it. Yes, we all know that gifts can cost a pretty penny and yet, sometimes the best things in life are free. With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of gifts that we (as mums) know won’t empty out that piggy bank but that we would love no less…

Mama Massage

It’s tiring being a mum and at the end of a long day at work, sometimes there’s nothing we want more than a good back rub. Volunteering to give mum a massage to soothe those weary bones thus makes for a great gift idea. And should you wish to go the extra mile, take the time to make a cute little voucher that entitles mum to redeem for a massage when she needs it the most. For some inspiration, click here.

Do A Chore

Regardless of whether mama is a stay home mum or working mum, chores are a bore. So why not help to lighten her load by taking over all the household chores on Mother’s Day so she can have more time to herself on this special occasion. We’re sure she’ll thank you for it.

Make A Card

For those of you who are craft savvy, a handmade card is just the thing. There’s nothing that us mums like more than something that you’ve taken time to make and decorate and it’s certainly one that we can frame up, allowing it to stand the test of time. Some ideas here.

Write A Poem

Tell mum how much you love her in a creative way. Whether it be in iambic pentameter, haiku-style or a little limerick like ditty, as long as it’s filled with love, we’ll love it.

Mini Performance

You may not think you have the talent but you’ll be surprised by just how easy it is to put on a performance for mum. Play a tune on an instrument or sing a song of love. Not musically inclined? Recite a poem or put on a little skit. The possibilities are limitless. It doesn’t have to be perfect — it’s the thought that counts.
