David Beckham is probably one of the most well-known footballers of all time, thanks to a long and illustrious career in the game (a whopping 21 years), playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and of course, his home country of England. Even though he hung up his cleats in 2013, he remains prolifically in the limelight through his work with UNICEF and as the face of numerous brands such as Adidas and Marina Bay Sands.
Even though he retired three years ago, he continues to get team paraphernalia sent to him, complete with his name and number on the back.
Beyond his achievements on the pitch, he also has an enviable family life. H has been married to wife Victoria for 18 years (and counting) and their now solid, grounded relationship is one that many aim for.
Beckham is known for his philanthropic spirit. He famously donated his salary from PSG to a children’s charity and is a UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) ambassador. In 2005, he launched 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund to commemorate the tenth year of being a UNICEF ambassador. The fund marks Beckham’s personal commitment to raise awareness and funds to protect children all over the world from danger for the next decade.
Apart from being a stellar athlete and humanitarian, there is little doubt that Beckham is a great dad. Follow him on Instagram and you would have seen the plethora of photos he posted in celebration of eldest son Brooklyn’s birthday (4 March)! He shared heartfelt anecdotes and family photos of Brooklyn from the past and we must say, both he and Victoria have done a wonderful job as parents bringing Brooklyn up.
Brooklyn shares his wonderful dad with his three other siblings — Romeo, Cruz, and little sister Harper, all of whom appear frequently on Beckham’s Instagram feed. He has been spotted cooking for them and keeping them out of mum’s hair while she prepares for Fashion Week.
Like many dads, his little lady Harper is the apple of his eye.
David is a great role model for many fathers and fathers to be. Just look at how great his kids have turned out, his close relationships with them and the loving relationship with Victoria.
