Blackie Chen’s success story is rather unique — he started out as a professional basketball player star before entering show business.
Even though he currently spends more time on screen, Blackie has not forsaken the basketball industry and is currently the deputy leader of semi-professional Taiwanese basketball team, Fubon Braves, which Joseph Lin (brother of Brooklyn Nets’ Jeremy Lin), is on.
He continues to pursue his passion for the sport by taking time to get on to the court and he is determined to pass his enthusiasm for basketball to his twin boys Ryan and River. He once said in an interview that it was a must for his sons to love basketball. Better to start them young then!
Even wife Christine Fan gets in on the fun sometimes.
And what goes hand in hand with basketball? Sneakers of course! Unsurprisingly, Blackie is a bona fide sneakerhead. His collection includes multiple basketball shoes, with different colour variations of the same shoe model.
這雙全白色的AIR MAX1 是Nike 幫我訂製的⋯這雙鞋看似是全白的,但是每個部位的材料和質感都不太一樣,捨不得穿啊! Thanks @nike #airmax #kissmyairs

It looks like his sons are already following in his footsteps when it comes to footwear.
One reason why we love Blackie, who is also known as Charles Chen and Chen Chien-Chou, is because he readily shares his life and photos on social media. Which other Asian star would post a bold photo like the one below?
It’s also adorable that Christine has the same admiration for her husband’s impressive physique. Just look at the number of Blackie phone cases she acquired!
The pair dated for 10 years before they tied the knot in 2011. Blackie proposed to Christine while they were watching a Nets game.
Although he has many commitments on his plate, Blackie is a hands-on and involved Dad. When Christine was recovering from her c-section, he helped her pump breast milk.
He dotes on his boys tremendously and is often spotted out and about with them.
They even have matching hairstyles!
This is probably one of our favourite photos of the twins — they’re dressed in identical jerseys with the number 93, which was Blackie’s jersey number when he was playing basketball in high school.
We can’t wait to see what Blackie’s next steps will be and hopefully, they will involve his adorable sons!
