Discover the agricultural roots of the Netherlands, as you stroll across blooming tulip fields dotted with traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, and check out over 35 varieties of tulips, including crowd-pleasers such as the brilliant golden ‘Yellow Flight’ and new ones like the vibrant red and white ‘Singapura’ which commemorate the 200th anniversary of Singapore’s founding.
TULIPMANIA 2o19 is the seventh edition of the collaboration between Gardens by the Bay and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM). Singapore’s largest tulip show features thousands of colourful tulips flown in directly from the Netherlands. Also on show is a hybrid christened as Tulipa ‘KLM’ – the light green and white flower with a blue centre was specially bred for KLM’s 90th anniversary and will make an appearance this year just in time for KLM’s 100th anniversary. The Tulipa ‘KLM’ changes colour from an intense green to white as it ages.
KLM was established on 7 October 1919 and is the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. To commemorate their one century milestone, KLM is hosting the KLM Delft Blue Tile Instagram Contest, and visitors stand a chance to win a trip to Amsterdam.
From now to 20 May, participants can head over to the KLM Delft House photobooth at the KLM x Gardens by the Bay Digital Wall inside the Flower Dome. Choose from five unique Delft blue tiles as photo backdrop and upload the Delft blue tile selfie on Instagram. Participants can share on what they love about TULIPMANIA.
