Enjoy a weekend of feasting and partying this National Day weekend at Kinki Restaurant + Bar. Set against the Marina Bay waterfront, start the festivities with a Bottomless Brunch on 9 August from 12-3pm. These include boundless servings of fresh sashimi, and ingenious maki. From 6pm onwards, watch the glorious fireworks from the rooftop bar. For premium views, try the Rooftop package. Included in this package are one bottle of Belvedere, either a bottle of Monkey Shoulder or Hendrick’s Gin, one mixer jug, four cans of Redbull and a sharing platter. 

The following day, on 10 August, the party starts from 8pm onwards. A collaboration between Kinkilicious and Eatmeportart, the event will showcase DJs weelikeme and KiDG playing “Eatmepoptart Classics”.

Try the Pelican‘s specially crafted four-course menu with Southeast Asian flavours. Start with a cured barramundi carpaccio, followed by the laksa fisherman pie. The latter is the Pelican’s signature pie with local flavours, pairing fresh seafood with a delightful laksa broth. End the meal with a coconut pandan panna cotta and fresh coconut pina colada for a refreshingly tropical touch. 

Continue the festivities with the Celebration Package, including a bottle of Roku gin, another of 12-year Old Pulteney, paired with truffle fries and chilli calamari. Otherwise for 9 August, take advantage of the special promotions for drinks. For example,  Lion Brewery costs $58++ for a bucket of five bottles and Sangria Lolea No. 1 or No. 2 at $19++ per glass and $80++ per bottle.

PORTA Fine Food & Import Company
Try the unusual Bandung Parfait at Porta this National Day.

Local Executive Chef Alex Phan has created a special menu for the country’s bicentennial milestone and National Day at Porta. Begin your feast with the truffle rojak salad, where peanut crumbles mix with fresh jicama in a tamarind shrimp paste. 

Another dish is the reinterpreted Peking Duck, served like a salad. The duck breast is first sous-vide till its tender and then home-smoked, paired with a range of herbs, spices and sauces for maximum flavour. Other interesting dishes include the pork belly with salted egg yolk, the black pepper crab linquine, and the Char Siew ribeye steak. 

End the meal with a Bandung Parfait or a twist on the classic favourite, the Milo Dinosaur. This is a mix of Milo sponge cake and crumbles and house-made caramel condensed milk.

Using whole, steamed lobsters from Nova Scotia, Canada, Burger & Lobster pays homage to one local favourite – laksa. Included in this dish is a mix of laksa leaves, ikan bilis and red chilli, lending plenty of Singaporean flavour to the coconut-based broth. Of course, this dish is served with tofu, bean sprouts and rice noodles.

Every Saturday till National Day, diners at L’Entrecôte The Steak & Fries Bistro (Customs House) can party away with the National Day package. Aside from having front row seats to the fireworks, couples can enjoy a glass of Delamotte champagne, as well as a charcuterie and cheese platter.

Another option for those dining in groups is A Party Bundle, so they can snack on bar bites while enjoying a bottle of Tariquet or Chanson Bourgogne Pinot Noir.

For some of the best panoramic views of the fireworks, Zafferano on level 43 of Ocean Financial Centre is a great option. Try the special four-course National Day Table D’hôte menu.

Awaiting you is an Italian feast, starting with antipasti otpions that include fresh burratina cheese from Andria, fresh tomato basil oil and a gazpacho. Options for the first course is a linguine with a Canadian lobster tail in a spicy tomato sauce.

Next, for the second course, diners have a choice of lamb, fish and chicken. In particular, the lamb is sous-vide and pan-fried, paired with a roasted eggplant puree, sautéed bok choy and coffee powder. End off the meal with house-made tiramisu, macarons or panna cotta. As an aside, children aged eight and above are welcome in the restaurant. Younger children, meanwhile, can dine with their parents in a private room, with advance arrangement.

One of our most renowned local delights is the Chilli Crab. Thus, this National Day, Chef Ciarran from The Halia serves up a unique rendition of the savoury dish – the Chilli Crab Cottage Pie ($24++). 

The National Day special menu at The Halia celebrates our colonial heritage and the country’s bicentennial milestone. It includes highlights such as Fish and Chips ($28++) that is deliciously topped with curried pea purée and served alongside seaweed fries and gingerflower sambal aioli. Additionally, the menu ends on a sweet note with the refreshing Tropical Trifle ($10++) that mixes coconut custard, guava jelly and cardamom chantilly.

There’s no better way to start National Day then to indulge in the nation’s most classic dishes. From 7 to 11 August, award-winning restaurant, Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts offers a series of creative twists on local favourites.

Inspired from one of Singapore’s favourites desserts, chendol, the pastry team at Carousel came up with the delightful Chendol Gâteau. It contains a fluffy gula melaka sponge layered with chendol and coconut chocolate mousse. Furthermore, it is topped with white chocolate coconut glaze and savoury popcorn that especially balances the sweetness between the two. If your sweet craving is still not satisfied, check out the Gula Melaka Crème Brulee imbued with a hint of deep, nutty caramel flavours.
