Dad Crush Monday: Stephen Amell

By Samantha Jong
April 10, 2017

Stephen Amell doesn’t just play a superhero in reel life; he’s a super dad in real life too. The Canadian actor first captured the public eye when he landed the role of Oliver Quinn in the hit CBS series Arrow in 2012, and since then he has become a dad, and a pretty hands-on one at that.

Stephen credits the role as how he honed his acting skills as well as his current athleticism and physique. He even went the extra mile to embody superhero Green Arrow by picking up parkour and archery.

9 weeks of (redacted) training. Just dropped the dumbbells.

Thus it was unsurprising when he announced that he would be competing on the 2017 special celebrity edition of American Ninja Warrior – a reality show that tests the endurance and physical prowess of participants. He will be training with Kacy Catanzaro, the first woman who qualified for the finals and completed the course. Looks like he’ll be putting his Arrow-physique to the test.

As a public figure, Stephen uses his status for good as well, spreading public awareness of causes that are close to his heart.

And yet, he remains down-to-earth and loves interacting with his fans.

Stephen is not just into fitness, he’s also a baseball fan. His team is the Blue Jays and it’s so important to him that he made sure to snap a picture of his daughter’s first Blue Jays game.

Stephen is a wonderful husband and dad too. He’s often caught being affectionate with his wife, actress Cassandra Jean, who he married in 2013.

Four years later. This one.

Shortly after their marriage came their daughter Mavi in 2014.

Judging from the number of photos of Mavi we see in his social media feeds, Stephen loves being a dad.

While he’ll always be Green Arrow to us, we can’t wait to see what else he’ll do next.
